The Purdue North Central Baseball program recently announced the signing of Anthony Carter, a talented right-handed pitcher for Coach Brian Jennings at Griffith High School.
The lanky righty had a sensational year as a junior at Griffith when he finished 6-3 with a 2.53 ERA. In 63.2 innings Carter struck out 46 against 29 walks. He held opponents to a .264 batting average and completed 3 of 11 starts, including 2 shutouts.
For his efforts, Carter was named 2012 All-Conference Honorable Mention and was also named NWI Times All Area Honorable Mention.
Carter, the son of Laura and Mike, and sibling of Kyle, Alyssa, Brianna and Curtis, intends to study Business at PNC.
"We're extremely excited to add Anthony to our program," said head coach John Weber. "He is truly a high character individual who is just beginning to realize his potential on the mound."
The Panthers finished 29-30 last season and 16-14 in the 13-team Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. After starting 1-9 on their Florida trip, the Panthers earned a spot in the 6-team post season CCAC tournament where they finished 3rd, losing to eventual champion St. Francis University (IL).
