The Purdue North Central volleyball team defeated IU Kokomo 3-0 Tuesday evening in Kokomo to improve to 2-3 on the season. IUK dropped to 0-1 as it was their first-ever NAIA intercollegiate competition in any sport.
In front of a packed house of nearly 500 IU Kokomo fans, the Panthers channeled the energy to win 25-23, 25-22 and 28-26.
Strong performances were turned in by senior rightside hitter Jamie Lowther (10 kills, 12 assists), senior outside hitter Brittany Piaseczny (14 kills) and senior libero Jessica Dhoore (pass rating of 2.54, 40 digs). Freshman hitter Vickie Flanders added to the offensive output with 11 kills.
The Panthers travel to Goshen on thursday and take on Goshen and Concordia (MI) in a tri-macth beginning at 4 p.m. central time.
