The following excerpt was taken from the Battle Creek Bomber website
regarding PNC outfielder Colin Willis making the prestigious Northwoods League
All-Star team. Willis is one of only five players of the 54 named to the
two teams not from a D-I program. He currently leads the team in hits
(52), RBI (22), hit-by-pitches (7) and at-bats (180) and is second in stolen
bases (13), runs (24) and homeruns (2). Willis also leads all outfielders with
8 outfield assists. Here is the story:
The Battle Creek Bombers are proud to announce that Colin Willis (Purdue: North
Central) and Alex Tukey (Minnesota) have both been voted into the Northwood's
League All-Star Game on July 24th in Madison.
Now in his second season with the Bombers, Alex Tukey has embraced the role of the closer. He has been very successful in that role, going 4-4 in save opportunities. With his electric fastball topping out at 94 mph, he has been very advantageous to have late in games for Battle Creek.
"When I come up, it's a big advantage to have my fastball because I can get them on the speed." Tukey said. "This year I have been working on becoming my own coach and staying within myself. I think I have done that so far, and it has paid off." When asked about the preparation they would do prior to stepping onto the field in Madison to face the top players in the North Division, they both responded with similar answers. The adrenaline will be higher, the crowd will be bigger, but the preparation is still the same. Baseball is baseball.http://www.northwoodsleague.com/pdf/2012NorthwoodsLeagueAllStars.pdf
