
PNC defeated Indiana Tech 5-4 in nine innings but came up short in game two losing 10-5 to Goshen.
The Panthers went the distance and then some for their 5-4 nine inning victory against Indiana Tech. Jaci Williams pitched nine straight innings for the win.
PNC got on the board in the first scoring one run. But Indiana Tech answered back in the third scoring three runs, taking the lead 3-1. The Panthers tied it up in the fifth and then waited till the ninth to put it away on a two run line drive single by Senior Lindsay Gernenz.
Gernenz, along with Freshman Sam Jones lead the offense with three hits in five at bats and one RBI a piece. Freshman Hillary Hoffman also went three for five and scored two runs. Senior Megan Olson also went two for four scoring two runs.
In the final game of the tournament the Panthers started out behind and never recovered against Goshen, losing 10-5. The Maple Leafs scored four runs off of starting pitcher, Senior Karissa Inglis in the first inning. Goshen followed the first up with a five run second inning off of freshman pitcher Ashlee Keil. Hoffman came in to pitch the final five innings allowing only one run but the damage had already been done.
Despite three homers by Gernenz, Hoffman, and Jones, the Panther could not string the hits together to score runs. Gernenz added three hits to go along with her homer while Freshman Denise Runge added two hits of her own.
Overall, Coach Boardman was happy with the four wins in six games on their three day road trip.
The Panthers move to 18-14 on the season after winning six of eight for the week.
PNC will be back in action Tuesday, April 3rd when they host Cardinal Stritch University in CCAC Double Header Action at 3:00 p.m.
