Purdue North Central will host its first-ever Spring Fling disc golf tournament on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. The event will take place on PNC's new, highly acclaimed, 18-hole course located on campus (by the Vet Tech Building behind the baseball field).
The cost is $30 with all proceeds benefiting the student-athlete scholarship fund. The price includes a specially designed collector's mini disc, a hot dog cookout, and a PNC disc golf stocking caps to the first 50 registrants. There will be a cash only snack cart available throughout the day.
The two round format is open to individuals and teams of all levels including novice, intermediate, advanced and pro but is limited to the first 108 participants. The tournament includes a commemorative wood-engraved disc for first place in each division and awards for closest to the pin and longest drive. There will also be a cash prize to the overall winner by handicap. Finally, a $5 "Ace Fund" can be entered on the day of the tournament for a hole-in-one.
The tournament is co-sponsored by the Sports Development arm of the LaPorte County Conventions and Visitors Bureau. The County offers a relaxing escape, with beautiful lakeside settings accessible off Interstates 80/90 and 94. With its Blue Chip Casino, premium outlet shopping, special events and the nearby Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, it offers an array of attractive options.
