Austin Brooks of Penn HS in Granger, IN recently signed a Letter of Intent to play golf at Purdue University North Central beginning in the fall of 2012. He is the second recruit to commit to PNC's new golf program and brings a solid list of playing accomplishments to the team.

Brooks is a four-year member of the Penn HS golf team, which is consistently a powerhouse among Northern Indiana high schools. Additionally, he has competed successfully on the Mountain Dew Junior Tour, topped by second and fifth place finishes in events last summer that traditionally feature the top junior golfers in the state.

"Austin was recommended to me by our teaching professional Mat Blair at Briar Leaf," said PNC's Head Golf Coach Jay Williams. "I value Mat's opinion highly, and after meeting Austin felt like he would not only be an immediate contributor to our team, but that PNC was a great fit for his academics,"

"He has a positive outlook and a wonderful personality that will fit well with the other members of the team," added Williams.

Brooks is the son of Randy and Janet Brooks and plans to study Behavioral Sciences at PNC.

The Panthers are looking forward to the spring season of 2012 which begins in late March and runs through the month of April. The spring schedule is highlighted by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament which carries an automatic bid to the national tournament for the winner.
